Two as one (project in progress)

According to the studies of anthropologists, in ancient myths the main divine essence was represented as a harmony of male and female.

Later, this unity was divided into two opposite halves: the feminine, material and conscious Earth, and the masculine, spiritual, unconscious Heaven.

My project illuminates that prehistoric era when these two parts existed in unity.

It is a visual metaphor that shows that the two opposing aspects of personality are inextricably linked, making up a whole.

I use photographs with images of me and my husband where our faces are hidden under masks.

Through this project I speak of our intimacy, of inner harmony and fulfilment, of returning to ourselves.

Each image where our faces are hidden symbolises not only protection but also transformation.

The mask becomes a metaphor, simultaneously representing both our individuality and our unity.

The materials used - beads, pearls, amber and coral - represent the richness of human emotion and connection.

In addition, these elements represent ancient symbols associated with nature and spirits.

They recall an ancestral culture where daily life and spiritual practices were inextricably linked.

Here there are no clear boundaries between the real and the fantastic, the natural and the supernatural.

It is a space where the protagonist goes through his journey of initiation, discovering and accepting all facets of his self.

In this context, my work becomes not only an exploration of the personal, but also an endeavour to hear the ancestral call that permeates time and space.
